Hi everyone! As many of you may know, we recently celebrated Curiously Creative’s 1st Birthday! Woohoo! Right!?
Honestly my first reaction to realising that it was going to be the 1 year mark soon was "Oh shit!" Because I had these big plans and lists of things I wanted to do by the end of the first year..
But as my friend Tash shared with me once, that in the Aboriginal culture, its less about celebrating an arbitrary age and more about celebrating your betterment. So in this sense it's been a great way to reflect back and celebrate our birthday from that perspective.
As we look back, it does feel surreal but hopeful to be on this journey.
The illustrations started out of a desperation to stay occupied during a depressive unemployment stage and to have something to give when money was no longer an available currency but time was. Then somehow, accidentally stumbling in to joy, healing, and the realisation that I was denying myself something I wanted to do and be all along.
Never would I have predicted that through that experience we would be here!
Goes to show, to never give up on your curiosity, because you just never know where it may lead you. I recall a quote by Leo Burnett that really hits home for me today. That,
“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects is still the secret..”
Being in our early years, the moments of doubts are extremely rife! And it has been your presence, engagement and support that kept us going. Having people to share the journey makes this journey much more joyful and rewarding to be on.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Can't wait to see what our second year of existence brings us and how we can be of more service, joy and inspiration for many more years to come.
With lots of love, gratitude and a massive splash of joy
